RED WING HERITAGE 8180 - THE KANGATAN RETURNS
Almost exactly 12 years ago, the 8180 Moc Toe in Green Kangatan leather became one of Red Wing Heritage's first true limited releases in Europe. No model before it sold out faster. Now it's back on our shelves, in limited numbers.
The RedWingHeritage 8180 pays homage to the 888 Super Setter, developed in the 1960s and produced by Red Wing exclusively for Sears, then America's largest department store chain - made, as the "Green Kangatan" name suggests, from green kangaroo leather. The original 888 Super Setter also had a famous endorser: Boston Red Sox player Ted Williams, who promoted the outdoor boot and helped boost both its sales and Red Wing's profile. In 2014, Red Wing honored that legacy with a limited Moc Toe release: the 8180.
This reissue is a true 1:1 recreation of that style — though instead of kangaroo leather, it's crafted from classic Texas steer hide, as usual. Everything else follows the traditional Moc Toe construction with a white Traction Tred sole. The rich green tone of the Kangatan leather remains the real eye-catcher, making this one a must-have for any Red Wing collection.

RED WING HERITAGE 8180 - IL RITORNO DI UN’ICONA
Quasi esattamente 12 anni fa, il Moc Toe 8180 in pelle Green Kangatan è diventato una delle prime vere edizioni limitate di Red Wing Heritage distribuite in Europa. Nessun modello precedente era andato esaurito così velocemente. Ora è tornato nuovamente disponibile, in quantità limitate.
Il Red Wing Heritage 8180 rende omaggio all’iconico 888 SuperSetter, sviluppato negli anni ’60 e prodotto da Red Wing esclusivamente per Sears, all’epoca la più grande catena di grandi magazzini degli Stati Uniti. Il modello originale era realizzato in pelle di canguro verde, da cui deriva il famoso nome “Green Kangatan”.
Il 888 SuperSetter poteva inoltre contare su un testimonial d’eccezione: Ted Williams, leggendario giocatore dei Boston Red Sox, che promosse questo stivale da outdoor contribuendo ad aumentarne la popolarità e, di conseguenza, anche la notorietà di Red Wing.
Nel 2014, Red Wing ha celebrato questa storia con una release limitata del Moc Toe: il 8180.
Questa nuova riedizione riprende fedelmente il design originale, con una differenza: invece della pelle di canguro, viene utilizzata la classica pelle bovina Texas Steer Hide. Per il resto, la costruzione rimane quella tradizionale del Moc Toe, completata dalla caratteristica suola bianca Traction Tred.
La ricca tonalità verde della pelle Kangatan è senza dubbio il vero elemento distintivo di questo modello, rendendolo un pezzo imperdibile per ogni collezione Red Wing.
